Turn the dishwasher off and unplug it from the wall outlet, or trip its circuit breaker. Wait a full 60 seconds — this discharges the solenoid coil and allows the control board to re-initialize the diverter valve position from scratch on restart. Some E19 faults caused by a transient power event or software state mismatch clear with this step alone.
After restoring power, start a complete wash cycle and watch the display. E19 typically appears early in the wash phase — within the first 3–5 minutes — when the control board first commands the diverter valve to switch zones. If the cycle runs fully without E19, the fault was transient and has cleared.
If E19 appears consistently or dishes from one rack zone are uncleaned every cycle, note which zone is affected — upper rack, lower rack, or a specific spray arm. This information helps a technician identify whether the valve is stuck in a fixed position or failing to move at all, and which component is most likely responsible.
If E19 returns after a hard reset, book a technician.
